Goa, 22 Nov: The Film Bazaar 2023 held in the Uttarakhand Pavilion at the 54th International Film Festival of India (IFFI) here, today, witnessed interest from national and international filmmakers regarding film shooting and investment in the state under the banner “Destination Uttarakhand”.
Dr Nitin Upadhyay, the nodal officer for the Uttarakhand Film Development Council, stated that, as per Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami’s directives, a favourable environment for film shooting and investment in the film industry is being created. In line with this, the state is hosting the Global Investment Summit-2023 in December. The Uttarakhand Government has also proposed a new film policy focusing on investment.
During the Film Bazaar 2023 in Goa, the Uttarakhand Pavilion provided information on film shooting and investment to various national and international filmmakers. Notably, actress and director Marianne Borga from Paris praised Uttarakhand’s film policy and expressed her intention to promote investment and shooting in the state. Australian-born director Anupam Sharma, of Uttarakhand origin, is working on promoting the state’s culture in Australia and planning film shooting and investment collaborations with Australian filmmakers.
Piyush Singh, CEO of Vistas Media Capital, revealed that his company operates in various regions globally. He expressed interest in establishing a film training institute in Uttarakhand. Dr Nitin Upadhyay invited Piyush Singh to participate in the upcoming investment summit in the state.
Film producer Shahnaab Alam highlighted the excellent film locations in Uttarakhand. Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Vikas Kharge, representing the Maharashtra Government, visited the Uttarakhand Pavilion and gathered information about the film policy and plans of the Uttarakhand Government. He proposed collaborative projects between Uttarakhand and Maharashtra to foster film, art, and cultural exchange.
Film producer and actor Satish Sharma mentioned that the state government is developing a filmmaker-friendly film policy, and Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is supportive of such initiatives.
Notable figures from the film industry visited the Uttarakhand Pavilion, including Charanprit Singh from ShowMe Films, Harknit Blogs, NFDC’s Anubhav Khanduri, Shoumy Films’ Charnpreet Singh, Civic Studio Mumbai’s Ankit Gandhi, Wave Multimedia’s Vinod Gupta, Abina Group’s Neetu Joshi, Sanjay Mittal, Deputy Secretary of PHD Chamber of Commerce Sanchit Prabhakar, and Vikram Razdan from Media Magic.
A warm welcome was extended to filmmakers and directors in the Uttarakhand Pavilion with mementos and shawls.
