Dehradun, 27 August: During a review meeting of cooperative banks, Secretary of Cooperatives, Dilip Jawalkar, announced several important decisions. He directed that the responsibility of branch managers and other employees in state and district cooperative banks with poor performance be assessed. Additionally, employees unable to perform well due to health issues should be given mandatory retirement under the designated programme.

Jawalkar issued these directives at a review meeting held today at the Dehradun camp office of the State Cooperative Bank. He also instructed that modern services such as mobile and net banking be initiated as soon as possible in all district cooperative banks to enhance customer convenience. With increasing NPAs (Non-Performing Assets) being a major concern, Jawalkar emphasised the need for accountability in NPA recovery and directed that police assistance be sought for this purpose.

During the meeting, the Secretary of Cooperatives reviewed a presentation from the State Cooperative Bank, in which Managing Director Neeraj Belwal provided a detailed progress report. Belwal stated that, currently, 12 out of 15 branches of the Uttarakhand State Cooperative Bank and District Cooperative Banks are running in profit. He also stated that efforts to recover overdue loans have resulted in a 4.08% reduction in NPAs.

In response, Jawalkar instructed the Managing Director to develop a robust policy for Prime Minister Cooperative Housing Loans, home loans, and cooperative housing loans. He also recommended starting a campaign to attract government employees and corporate clients to open accounts at the banks.

The Secretary expressed concern about the low CD ratio in district cooperative banks and directed that it be improved. The meeting involved in-depth discussions about the bank’s current status and future plans, with several key instructions issued. Jawalkar emphasised that bank services should reach more customers and that they receive benefits without any difficulty.

The review meeting was attended by General Manager Mukesh Maheshwari, Assistant General Manager RS Raina, Akanksha Kandari, Neha Kant, Pankaj Bameta, and other officials.
