Dehradun, 16 May: The Uttarakhand Government has restricted the use of mobile phones or making of reels or videos with any device within 200 metres from the temple premises. This decision has been taken in view of unprecedented number of pilgrims coming to Char Dham temples this year and to ensure better crowd management.
In this respect, Chief Secretary Radha Raturi has stated that, this year, double the number of devotees is arriving as compared to last year. She added that the pilgrims should come only after registration on the Uttarakhand Tourism website. Prior registration has been made necessary to help ensure better arrangements.
She added that use of mobile phones will be prohibited within 200 metres of temple premises in order to avoid any mishap due to heavy crowds. She clarified that, despite the heavy rush of pilgrims, there has been no stampede till now. She also made it clear that nobody should attempt to spread fake news as it is a crime to do so. She warned that stringent action will be taken against those who spread fake news.
Raturi also appealed to the pilgrims to get medically examined and get a medical clearance certificate before commencing the Char Dham journey.
