DEHRADUN, 5 Dec: Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (Retd), on Sunday, participated in the Old Boys Association Meet Program at Sainik School Kapurthala in Punjab. It is worth mentioning that Governor Lieutenant General Gurmit Singh (retired) had studied in Sainik School Kapurthala. Lt-General Gurmit Singh (Retd) announced the Governor’s Trophy for best in Academics on this occasion. He shared his student life experiences and memories with the students present there. Addressing the program, he said that the Sainik School where he studied continues to be a great institution. Sainik Schools have prepared hundreds of officers for Indian Armed Forces through National Defense Academy. The Governor said that it is a matter of pride that now our daughters are also becoming part of the military tradition. Our promising daughters are making the country proud while registering significant achievements in every field . This new tradition of the army is going to give a new dimension to the girls’ personality. By giving equal opportunity to the daughters, our country and society will soon become a new example of progress. The Governor said that every moment of school is important. Education received in school guides us always. Education prepares to face the challenges of life. The Governor said that your training, education and skill will take the country to new heights of prosperity. Lt-General Singh (Retd) said that there is a need for zealous and enthusiastic youth to meet the dreams of our country.

This country is young. 65 percent of the youth population, will be contributing to fulfilling young dreams. Military service is a long-term plan. It provides opportunity to serve the country and society for a lifetime. It makes us self-disciplined and hard working. Youth should become responsible citizens. He said that Punjab is the land of knowledge, power and sacrifice of gurus. On this occasion, the Principal, Teachers, former and present Students of the school were present.
