Kotdwar, 19 May: Speaker of the Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly, Ritu Khanduri Bhushan visited the Base Hospital here and distributed two months’ worth of ration to tuberculosis (TB) patients from the Kotdwar Assembly constituency. She also inquired about their health and ongoing treatment.
She stated that, under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make India TB-free, her NGO Jai Durga Samajik Sanstha has adopted 10 TB patients from the Kotdwar constituency, and she has personally taken responsibility for their care.
Speaker Khanduri emphasised that tuberculosis is a preventable disease. She urged people to maintain cleanliness, avoid unhygienic surroundings, and consume clean, nutritious food and water to stay healthy. She distributed TB-supportive ration kits including eggs, protein-rich food, and other nutritional items to the patients.
During her visit to the hospital, she noticed an elderly man in an injured state. Without delay, she paused her ongoing work and immediately checked on him. Upon inquiry, it was found that the man had fainted due to old age and the intense heat. The Speaker promptly instructed the doctors to attend to him without delay.
