Dehradun, 15 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the Silver Jubilee celebration of Graphic Era by lighting the ceremonial lamp on Sunday. The CM said that India is on the way to becoming ‘Vishwa Guru’ and the youth will play a significant role in this. In order to get the best in life, one needs to work hard, he emphasised.
He asked students to give their best in whichever field they enter after completing their education at Graphic Era. He pointed out that the country had got the privilege of organising the G-20 meeting because of PM Modi’s leadership.
The CM acknowledged the contribution of Graphic Era and Dr Kamal Ghanshala in the field of education, research and medicine and said that it would be helpful in taking India to the global level. Graphic Era’s 25-year-long journey was full of several achievements. Graphic Era Deemed University (GEU) figured in the list of top 100 universities of the country, he acknowledged.
President, Graphic Era Group of Institutions, Dr Kamal Ghanshala asserted that CM Dhami is the MS Dhoni of politics. He revealed that students from all the states and 24 countries study in Graphic Era.
President, Graphic Era Educational Society, Laxmi Ghanshala, Vice-Chairperson, Graphic Era Group of Institutions, Rakhee Ghanshala, Vice Chancellor, GEU, Dr Narpinder Singh, Director General Dr Sanjay Jasola and many other officials were present at the ceremony.
Uttarakhand’s own singing sensation, Neha Kakkar made students of GEU groove to the music of her hit number, ‘Kala Chashma” on the second day of the Silver Jubilee celebrations. On seeing her in a silver outfit and black shades on day two of Grafest, students started requesting for this hit song. Neha, who hails from Rishikesh performed at Graphic Era for the first time. The ace singer gave a power packed performance wearing black shades.
The moment Neha screamed ‘I love Uttarakhand’ from the stage, the entire GEU campus started reverberated to the sounds of claps and whistles of thrilled students. Neha started her second hit number ‘coca cola tu’, and students started singing with her, ‘shola shola tu’. The singer kept turning her mic towards the young audience several times during her performance.
Her performances on — ‘mile ho tum humko’, ‘garmi’ and ‘dilbar’, too, kept the students grooving. Excited students started clapping fiercely when the prelude of her popular number, ‘aankh mare wo ladki aankh mare’ began. Every song was followed by once more…once more… requests by the crowd.
Students started thronging the university campus hours before the event began. The sprawling campus was jam-packed when Neha arrived. Long queues of, both, GEU and GEHU alumni, too, were seen on the second day of the three-day fest.
