1,23,250 new voters to be included in U’khand Voters’ List in Jan

Dehradun, 27 Dec: More than 1,23,000 new voters are set to be included in Uttarakhand’s voters’ list in January 2025. The Chief Electoral Officer’s office has completed all preparations for the publication of the final voter list based on the eligibility date of 1 January 2025 under the Special Summary Revision Programme 2025. Chief Electoral Officer Dr BVRC Purushottam has disclosed that the final publication will be done on 6 January 2025. Out of the total 1,23,250 new voters, 58,917 are male, 64,322 are female, and 11 are third gender voters.

It may recalled that Dr Purushottam had instructed that a door-to-door campaign be run in all districts under the Special Summary Revision Programme. Senior officers from the Chief Electoral Officer’s office were also directed to visit various districts for district-wise super checking.

Additional Chief Electoral Officer Dr Vijay Kumar Jogdande stated that the Election Commission of India conducts the process of updating the voter list every year under the special brief revision programme. He mentioned that the Commission has now fixed four eligibility dates each year (1 January, 1 April, 1 July, and 1 October) for citizens who have completed 18 years of age to register their names in the voters’ list by filling Form 6.

Dr Jogdande further shared that the officers have been assigned the responsibility of the super checking campaign in different districts, where they regularly conducted super checks at polling booths and gathered feedback from voters. He confirmed that the final publication of the voters’ list in the state will be done on 6 January 2025.

It may be reminded here that over the past five years, 11.35 lakh voters have been registered in the state based on the eligibility date of 1 January. This includes 5.33 lakh male voters, 6.02 lakh female voters, and 165 third gender voters. In 2020, 1,18,732 voters were added, 140,528 in 2021, 360,686 in 2022, 134,461 in 2023, and 257,933 in 2024.
