Rainfall, snowfall recorded in parts of U’khand, to continue today

Dehradun, 27 Dec: The Meteorological Department had predicted a change in the weather in Uttarakhand for today and tomorrow. The forecast has proved to be accurate, with light to moderate rain observed in many places across all 13 districts of the state today.  In Dehradun, too, rainfall was recorded and is likely to continue overnight and tomorrow. Additionally, snowfall was predicted at places with an altitude of 2500 metres and above, which has also come true. Snowfall is expected in areas with an altitude of 2000 metres and above tonight and tomorrow.

Light drizzle and snowfall were seen in various parts of the state today including Dehradun. This weather change has brought good news for those planning to celebrate the New Year in Uttarakhand. The Meteorological Department has also predicted light rain and snowfall for the next two days.

The change in weather has brought relief to those awaiting rain and snowfall in Uttarakhand. The weather changed gears today with clouds appearing in the sky since morning, accompanied by light drizzle in the plains and snowfall in the high mountain areas. This change has not only brought joy to the locals but has also brightened the faces of tourists. Business owners in the tourism sector are especially pleased, as tourists have already started arriving at hill stations. With the snowfall, the number of tourists is expected to increase.

This weather change will also benefit farmers in the state, as rain has been awaited for a long time. The rain will aid farming activities.

Director of State Weather Centre, Bikram Singh has informed that rains will continue till 30 December in Dehradun and snowfall is likely in the hill region of the Dehradun district as well as in Uttarkashi. He also predicted light rain and hailstorm in Nainital and in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. Snowfall is possible in Pithoragarh and Bageshwar.

Dehradun recorded a maximum of 16 Deg Celsius and a minimum of 12 deg C on Thursday while Haridwar recorded a maximum of 18 deg and a minimum of 13 deg. At the same time Badrinath and Kedarnath recorded a minimum temperature of Minus 4 deg C, Gangotri recorded a minimum of Minus 2 deg C while Yamunotri was the coldest with a minimum of minus 7 deg C.
