Dehradun, 19 Oct: The annual prize day was celebrated at Little Flower School on Saturday, 19th October 2019 with fervour.
The Principal Ratna Manucha, who is multifaceted in the fields of writing and as an academician, spelt out the importance of Earth Day as well as plight of dwindling rivers and forest wealth in her annual report. She also expressed concern over the harmful effects of plastic and sensitised parents on many social awareness issues which hold prime importance in today’s world.
L.F.S. under her able guidance and the teachers are constantly striving to bring forth the importance of interclass and inter house competitions in the fields of painting, singing, fancy dress, dancing, handwork, games, declamation and the relationship between parents, teachers and students.
Apart form this the children are taught the unique definition of charity. To make this effective NGOs like ‘Goonj’, ‘Do No Waste’, ‘Waste Warriers’ are invited to the school at regular intervals.
The Chief Guest for the occasion was P.S. Kalra, Principal Guru Nanak Academy. The Chief Guest and the Chairman Col. R.K. Manucha (Retd.) took the salute of the impressive March past of the students, coupled with some stirring marching music. The sports day was inaugurated by releasing balloons and the students made their way through the ground performing a torch relay.
The students of classes Play Group to 5 displayed various drills that included chicken dance, bhangra drill, umbrella drill, shark and flower drills etc. Karate – self defence techniques were highly applauded by the audience. The various attractions of the event were the bright and captivating costumes wore by the participants. Further the students competed in various sprints, hop races, balancing, ready to school, tug of war and relays. The fun time with parents race added to the enjoyment.
After this, the children lined up for the prize distribution ceremony. The annual roll over trophy for the session 2018-19 was lifted by the Carnation house. The academic awards were given to the meritorious students. The students with ‘The Most Helpful Nature’ and ‘The Perfect Attendance’ were also felicitated. The ‘Student of the Year’ award was given to Vidushi Chauhan of class 3.
The Chief Guest, who is an educationist as well as convenor for the ICSE Board congratulated the Chairman Col. Manucha and Principal Ratna Manucha and said he was happy to see that the children were getting an all round quality education. He said that the parents are the children’s first teachers and things like good behaviour, humility are taught at home. He appreciated all the programmes with special mention of the March Past which was perfection personified.
It was followed by the Principal’s ‘Vote of Thanks’. The wonderful afternoon ended with the School song and the National Anthem.
