Dehradun, 10 May: Over 350 players from more than 30 schools showcased their talent at the “2nd Shri Hansraj Memorial Table Tennis Tournament-2026” held at The TonsBridge School, here. The overall trophies were claimed by Welham Girls’ School (Girls’ category) and The Oasis School (Boys’ category).

The three-day tournament provided an exciting platform for students from Uttarakhand and other prestigious schools to compete at the highest level. Players displayed exceptional discipline, sportsmanship, and talent throughout the event.

The Chief Guest at the Inaugural Ceremony was retired IAS officer and State Election Commissioner Sushil Sharma. The Distinguished Guest was Olympian & Asian Shot Put Champion OP Karhana, who motivated the players on Day 1

The Chief Guest at the closing ceremony was senior IAS officer Ashish Kumar Srivastava, who emphasised the importance of sports in building leadership, discipline, and self-confidence, highlighting its role in sustainable development and a healthy lifestyle.

The special guests and officials on the occasion were International Table Tennis Coach Vipin; Secretary, District Table Tennis Association, KK Sharma; International Umpire Girish Madhwal; and International Referee Asif.

School Chairman Vijay Nagar said on the occasion, “Sports instill confidence, leadership, and positive energy in life.” Director Shalendra Benjamin highlighted discipline, patience, and teamwork learned through sports. Principal Rupa Gosain wished all participants a bright future.

Players from over 30 schools participated, demonstrating sportsmanship, discipline, and competitive excellence.
