338th ‘Mahanirvana Parva’ of Guru Ram Rai observed in Doon

Dehradun, 11 Sep: The 338th Mahanirvana Parva of Guru Ram Rai was observed with unmatched faith, here, today. The Spiritual Superior of the Darbar Sahib, Mahant Devendra Das organised special prayers to mark this occasion. The Mahant offered homage to Shri Guru Ram Rai at the bank of the pond located near Jhandeji.

After that, 17 purohits made a ‘pind’ of rice, milk, honey, Gangajal, ghee and sugar and carried out the prayers. Then the Prasadam was distributed among the devotees. The Mahant showered his divine blessings on the thousands of devotees that had come from every part of the country and abroad.

A special langar was also organised. In the evening, prasad comprising ‘halwa poori’ and ‘churma’ was distributed among the devotees. The people of different age groups who had come from all the parts of the country felt blessed on being a part of this Mahanirvana Parva. The Medical Team of Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital was available all the time to tackle any medical emergencies.

Guru Ram Rai was born in 1646 on the ‘panchmi’ of ‘Chaitra Mass’. In 1676, he arrived in Dehradun. Guru Maharaj turned Dehradun into a sacred place by making it his karmasthali. On Bhadrasudi 8 Sanwat 1744 (4 September 1687) he went to the abode of God. The sangats consider the soul of Guru Maharaj as immortal and serve his Samadhi while observing this day as Mahanirvana Parva.

While showering his divine blessings over the ‘sangats’, the Mahant said that the place of the Guru is even higher than God. One reaches God by following the path laid down by the Guru. He said that those people who follow the path laid down by the Guru achieve all the goals in life. He also offered ardas for the happiness, prosperity and peace of the people of the country.

The devotees flocked in the thousands at the Darbar Sahib right from the morning till late in the evening. The obtained darshan of the Jhandeji, the Darbar Sahib and obtained the blessings of Mahant Devendra Das.

At a Blood Donation Camp dedicated to Guru Ram Rai, the devotees donated 154 units of blood. The Shri Mahakal Sewa Samiti organised a Voluntary Blood Donation Camp in association with Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital Blood Bank. Mahant Devendra Das inaugurated the camp by lighting the ceremonial lamp. He felicitated the blood donors by awarding them mementos as well as showering his blessings on them. He also praised the Mahakal Sewa Samiti’s constructive and social works. Present on the occasion were Bhagwatacharya Subash Joshi, Main Hoon Sewadar’s founder Sandeep Gupta, Nilesh Mata from Yuva Sewa Dal, Vineet Nagpal, Sanjay Garg from Shri Prithvi Nath Sewa Dal, Naveen Gupta, Vivek Mohan Srivastava and Shri Mahakal Sewa Samiti’s Hemraj Arora, Vinay Prajapati, Ayush Jain, Guarav Jain, Balkishan Sharma, Sanjeev Gupta, Nitin Agarwal, Rahul Mata, Vikram Chaudhary, Kritika Rana, Anushka Rana, etc.
