DEHRADUN, 14 Jan: Uttarakhand Sub Area organised a Veterans’ Day, today, at the ‘Doon Sainik Institute, as per the laid down policy, under the aegis of Maj Gen Bhaskar Kalita, GOC, Uttarakhand Sub Area. It was attended by more than 400 Ex- Servicemen. Detailed talks were given on various welfare issues pertaining to ESM by officers in charge of each faculty, such as ECHS, Medical, Col Veteran, Canteen and others. Many points raised by ESM on various welfare issues were answered by officers concerned and also points noted down for necessary future action. Brig SN Singh, Dy GOC, Uttarakhand Sub Area, who has recently joined the HQs also addressed the ESM and promised on behalf of the GOC that all necessary help would always be rendered for the welfare of ESM and war widows. He also commended the great efforts put into making Veterans’ Day so successful by Col PRS Rawat, Col D Gaur, Col Veterans, Col Vipul Saini and others. Uttarakhand Sub Area had also established various stalls of medical, ECHS, Banks, Records, CPPC, SBI, and others to help ESM sort out their problems. It was so useful that Col BM Thapa (Retd), Senior Vice President of Dehradun Ex- Services League, could help 84 year old Maj RS Gurung (Retd) who was not getting his entitled pension for many years. With the intervention of Ramesh Singh Bisht, OIC, CPPC SBI, Delhi, the veteran will get his dues in the future. Brig SN Singh, Dy GOC, presented three TVS Scooters to war wounded handicapped veterans and gave away many other awards to senior veterans. Those present were Brig VK Patra, Commandant, MH, Brig SN Singh, Dy GOC, Lt Gen KK Khanna (Retd), Maj Gen C Nandwani (Retd), Brigs RS Rawat, VPPS Gusain, Cols PRS Rawat, Dinesh Gaur, Vipul Saini, Cols (Retd) MMP Kala, BM Thapa, CB Thapa, BS Chhetri, GS Cheema, PL Prasher, BD Gambhir, Capts Neel Kumar Thapa, SS Panwar, Ashok Limbu, Lt TD Bhutia and many others.
