58.89% voter turnout in Kedarnath Assembly byelection: DEO

Rudraprayag, 21 Nov: District Magistrate and District Election Officer Saurabh Gaharwar today disclosed that the Kedarnath Vidhan Sabha by-election was conducted efficiently and peacefully, with a total voter turnout of 58.89 percent.  A total of 173 polling booths were set up for the election. After the completion of voting, all polling parties have reached their destinations safely, and the election material and EVM machines have been secured in the strong room. Out of the 173 polling parties, 166 had returned late last evening, while the remaining 7 polling parties from remote areas returned today. The polling party to arrive last was from the Toshi polling booth, which reached Agastyamuni Krida Maidan at around 12:15 p.m. today.

On this occasion, District Election Officer Saurabh Gaharwar also thanked all the officers and personnel deployed in the election work, security forces and all the voters for conducting the elections efficiently and peacefully.

The EVM machines have been kept in the strong room, which was sealed under the supervision of Vinod Seshan, the general observer appointed by the Election Commission of India. On this occasion, DEO Saurabh Gaharwar, Superintendent of Police Akshay Prahlad Kounde, Returning Officer Anil Kumar Shukla, along with the agents of BJP and Congress candidates, were among those present.
