Dehradun, 1 Sep: The Secondary Education Department will appoint 851 additional guest teachers across various schools to fill vacancies in the lecturer cadre. Instructions have been given to departmental officials regarding this. The guest teachers will be appointed to fill vacancies in mathematics, science, and English in schools in the state’s hilly and remote areas, ensuring uninterrupted educational activities.
State Education Minister Dr Dhan Singh Rawat stated that the government’s goal is to provide better education to the children of the state. The departmental officials have been directed to complete the appointment process promptly.
He noted that 158 guest teachers will be appointed in Chamoli district, including 22 for mathematics, 30 for physics, 29 for chemistry, 24 for biology, and 53 for English. Similarly, in Pithoragarh, 163 guest teachers will be appointed, with 10 in mathematics, 52 in physics, 38 in chemistry, 28 in biology, and 35 in English. In Pauri district, 121 guest teachers will be appointed, including 24 for mathematics, 11 for physics, 25 for chemistry, 7 for biology, and 54 for English. Almora will see the appointment of 122 guest teachers, including 10 for mathematics, 20 for physics, 26 for chemistry, 31 for biology, and 35 for English. Tehri will have 31 guest teachers, with 1 in mathematics, 1 in physics, 8 in chemistry, 1 in biology, and 20 in English. In Nainital, 30 guest teachers will be appointed, with 3 in mathematics, 6 in physics, 3 in chemistry, 6 in biology, and 12 in English. Champawat will have 81 guest teachers, including 7 for mathematics, 25 for physics, 17 for chemistry, 16 for biology, and 16 for English. Bageshwar will have 46 guest teachers, including 13 for mathematics, 8 for chemistry, 12 for biology, and 13 for English. This initiative aims to address teacher shortages in these subjects and ensure smooth educational operations in schools across the state’s hilly and remote regions.
Dr Rawat mentioned that the recruitment of guest teachers will be based on the merit list of the year 2020. Currently, 3,655 guest teachers are deployed in various government schools across the state, including 1,175 in the assistant teacher cadre and 2,480 in the lecturer cadre.
