Haridwar, 27 Feb: In the ongoing investigation into the Uttarakhand High School Board examination cheating case, Haridwar Police have made an important arrest by taking into custody Changez Ansari, son of Zaheer Ansari, a resident of Mohalla Chauhanan, Jwalapur. The accused had allegedly arranged for another girl student to appear in the examination in place of his tuition student and prepared a forged admit card to facilitate the impersonation.

Haridwar Police reminded that, in connection with the matter, seven other students had earlier been detained, while one student had absconded. The police have claimed that further arrests are likely to be made shortly as the investigation progresses.

According to Ranipur Police, the role of Savitri Shiksha Sadan has come under suspicion, as the examination forms of all eight students were filled through the said institution and their examination centre had been allotted at Salempur Inter College. It was found that separate photographs had been affixed on the admit cards of these candidates. The discrepancy was detected by teachers on examination duty, who noticed the irregularities during verification.

Principal Kamal Kumar of Savitri Shiksha Sadan had earlier informed the police that the examination forms were filled by Rajkumar, a resident of Garhmirpur. The matter pertains to the Uttarakhand High School Board examinations. Further scrutiny of the role of the persons connected with the filling of forms is underway.

During interrogation, the accused introduced himself as the Principal of Almudia Islamic High School, Jwalapur, and admitted to operating online coaching classes through a WhatsApp and social media group named ‘The Success Point’. Police stated that under the pretext of tuition, the accused had collected money from the family of a student with the assurance of ensuring her success in the examination. He allegedly used the photograph of another girl student to prepare a forged admit card.

On the basis of the said forged admit card, a different girl had appeared in the examination room in place of the actual candidate. Police officials stated that detailed questioning of the accused is continuing and further action will be taken on the basis of additional facts emerging during the course of investigation.
