Dehradun, 5 Mar: A meeting of the Expenditure Finance Committee was held at the Secretariat today under the chairmanship of Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan. During the meeting, several important development projects pertaining to different districts of the state were considered and approved.
During the meeting, the committee granted approval to a number of major schemes. Under Tranche-2 of the AMRUT 2.0 programme, the Sahastradhara Drinking Water Scheme was approved. The scheme will be implemented by the Uttarakhand Jal Sansthan.
The committee also approved the revised proposal for the construction of the Satpuli Barrage under the Dwarikhal/Ekeshwar development blocks in Pauri Garhwal district.
The committee also granted approval for the construction of residential quarters of Type-II, Type-III and Type-IV categories at the Fire Station located in Haldwani in Nainital district.
In Dehradun district, the proposal for the construction of an office building of the Directorate of Urban Development on Sahastradhara Road in the Danda Lakhond area was also approved by the committee.
The committee further approved reconstruction of the main office building of the Municipal Corporation in Rudrapur.
Issuing directions regarding the implementation of the approved schemes, the Chief Secretary instructed all the departments concerned to ensure that the projects are executed in a practical, economical, transparent and quality-oriented manner. He emphasised that all works related to these projects should be completed expeditiously within the stipulated time frame.
Bardhan also directed that special attention should be paid to maintaining ecological balance during the execution of the projects and that efforts should be made to ensure that the schemes are implemented in a sustainable manner so that they remain viable in the long term.
Among those present at the meeting were Secretaries Nitesh Jha, Shailesh Bagauli, SA Adanki and Yugal Kishore Pant, along with senior officials of the related departments.
