Godiyal seeks probe into Pauri youth’s suicide

Dehradun, 4 May: Uttarakhand Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal has written a letter to Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami expressing grave concern over the alleged police harassment that reportedly drove a young man from Setpuri village in Satpuli area of Pauri Garhwal to commit suicide. Referring to reports circulating in the media, Godiyal said the incident has raised serious questions about police behaviour and law enforcement in the state.

In his letter, Godiyal has demanded a high-level investigation into the matter to ascertain accountability and ensure justice for the victim’s family. He stressed that such incidents erode public trust in the system and must be dealt with firmly to prevent recurrence. He urged the CM to take immediate steps to fix responsibility and initiate corrective measures.

Godiyal also appealed for financial assistance to be extended to the bereaved family, observing that the tragedy has left them devastated and in need of support. He emphasised that the government must act swiftly to uphold the principles of justice and compassion, ensuring that the family does not feel abandoned in their hour of grief.
