Flaunting VIP status in Mussoorie proves costly for visitor

Mussoorie, 7 May: As part of Operation Prahar, the Mussoorie police are taking strict action against those flouting rules and displaying VIP status during the tourist season. Late Wednesday evening, during a checking operation at Library Chowk in Mussoorie, police seized a luxury car equipped with a red and blue beacon, horn, and darkened window panes.
According to information, Kotwali Mussoorie police were conducting intensive checking at Library Chowk. At that time, a black Maruti Ciaz car (RJ 45-CV-6666) was seen approaching Mussoorie at high speed, flashing its beacon. The red and blue lights and horn on the car aroused police suspicion, and the vehicle was immediately stopped.
During police interrogation, the driver tried to impress the officers by claiming to be an official of a central ministry. However, when asked for valid vehicle documents and a driving licence, he failed to produce any original documents. The investigation also revealed that the driver was driving while wearing slippers and had illegal black film applied to the car windows.
Upon rigorous questioning, the driver admitted that he had installed a flashlight and horn on the vehicle to avoid traffic jams and toll taxes and to receive VIP treatment on the roads. Following this, the police removed the on the spot and seized the vehicle.
Mussoorie Police Station Incharge Devendra Chauhan stated that, under the instructions of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, intensive checking is being conducted throughout the district under Operation Prahar. Continuous action will continue against those violating traffic rules, displaying fake VIP culture, and disrupting law and order.
Amidst the increasing traffic and VIP culture in Mussoorie during the tourist season, this police action has been appreciated by the public. Locals state that many individuals flout the rules by installing red and blue beacons and sirens, causing inconvenience to the general public. Strict action against such individuals is imperative.
