Chief Minister inaugurates new Academic Block, Graphic Era Kaushal Jyoti Yojana’ at Graphic Era Hill varsity

BHIMTAL, July 4: Graphic Era Hill University, Bhimtal campus witnessed a landmark academic event as Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, inaugurated the University’s newly-constructed Academic Block, auditorium, and the ‘Graphic Era Kaushal Jyoti Yojana’. The occasion marked another significant milestone in the University’s journey towards academic excellence.
On this occasion, Founder-president of the Graphic Era Group of Institutions Kamal Ghanshala launched the Graphic Era Kaushal Jyoti Yojana, a one-year diploma programme in Hotel Management offered free of cost to students whose annual family income is below Rs. 4 lakhs. Under the scheme, eligible students will receive a monthly stipend of Rs. 5,000 along with a scholarship of Rs.60,000. The initiative aims to empower youth through skill-based education and enhance their employment opportunities.
The programme commenced with a grand welcome to the Chief Minister, who was greeted as the ‘Yuva Hriday Samrat.’ Profv(Dr) Kamal Ghanshala, along with distinguished guests including Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Ram Singh Kaida, Nainital MLA Sarita Arya, and BJP district president Pratap Bisht, felicitated the Chief Minister with bouquets and the traditional Kumaoni cap.
The occasion became even more special as the Chief Minister completed five years in office on July 3, this year. In recognition of this significant milestone and his vision of ‘Heritage and Development,’ the gathering honoured him with a standing ovation and thunderous applause.
Addressing the august gathering, Kamal Ghanshala elaborated on the objectives of the Graphic Era Kaushal Jyoti Yojana, describing it as a major initiative to provide skill-based education and career-oriented training to students from economically weaker families. He also highlighted the University’s social contributions, including the creation of more than 1,000 direct employment opportunities, empowerment of local women, environmental conservation initiatives, and active participation in social welfare activities such as regular blood donation drives.
During the programme, the Chief Minister felicitated students for their outstanding achievements. Karnika Negi, who secured All India Rank 152 in the Indian Engineering Services (IES) Examination, was honoured. Students receiving exceptional placement offers were also felicitated, including Gunjan Bhanwal for securing a package of Rs. 66.01 lakh per annum at Atlassian, Vibha Chandola for receiving ₹54.84 lakh per annum at Google, Harshit Bisht, Khushi Joshi, and Jeevan Joshi for securing ₹47.88 lakh per annum at Amazon, and Prachi Sah for receiving Rs. 22 lakh per annum at BNY Mellon.
U.ttarakhand Cabinet Minister Ram Singh Kaida appreciated the Chief Minister‘s visit to Bhimtal and lauded his commitment towards youth empowerment and inclusive development.
In his address, Dhami extolled the visionary leadership of Kamal Ghanshala and appreciated the launch of the Graphic Era Kaushal Jyoti Yojana for promoting skill development among young people. He also praised Graphic Era’s outstanding placement record in leading multinational companies and acknowledged the Founder0president’s remarkable contribution to the field of education.
Pushkar Singh Dhami stated that educational institutions play a crucial role in regional development. He particularly appreciated Graphic Era’s contribution towards education, research, and skill development in the hill regions of Uttarakhand. Reiterating his vision of ‘Innovation and Development with Heritage,’ he appreciated the university’s successful integration of tradition with innovation and praised the newly inaugurated auditorium as a symbol of world class infrastructure.
He also appreciated Kamal Ghanshala’s visionary proposal to establish a 100-bedded hospital in Bhimtal, describing it as a significant step towards strengthening healthcare services and improving accessibility for the people of the region.
Encouraging students to dream big, work hard, and lead with determination, the Chief Minister inspired them with the message of “Sankalp Se Siddhi” (From Resolution to Achievement).
The programme concluded with a cake-cutting ceremony to celebrate Pushkar Singh Dhami in office for a record five full years.
