Dehradun, 5 Jun: In a gesture of love and sensitivity for India’s vulnerable and challenged tribal communities like Tharu, Buxa, and Northeast tribal children, Dehradun District Magistrate Dr Ashish Chauhan spent early morning hours on a Sunday at the Tribal Gurukul ITITI Doon Sanskriti School, Jhajhra, and inaugurated the ‘Vidyarambh’ Sanskar, i.e., the auspicious beginning of the new academic session.
He presented new text books and school bags to the children and had a simple enchanting talk with them laced with fun and light hearted punch lines.
Children from Dharchula, Khatima, Sitarganj and Tawang, Namsai (Arunachal), Imphal, Kokrajhar, Sonitpur (Assam), Tamenglong, Banswara (Rajasthan) have entered a session of studies at this unique tribal gurukul.
Its silver jubillee was inaugurated by the Vice President of India, CP Radhakrishnan with blessings from CM Pushkar Singh Dhami and the great cultural rejuvenator of the northeast Dy CM Chowna Mein.
DM Chauhan won the hearts of students and parents with his assurance to help the children with smart classes (digital class room boards) and sports material.
Tarun Vijay, former MP, appreciated the simple and down to earth demeanour of the visiting dignitary.
Director Ritwik Vijay thanked the “people’s” DM.
