Mussoorie, 7 Jul: Intensifying its campaign against illegal construction, the Mussoorie-Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) sealed an unauthorised construction project on RK Verma Road in Jaiswal Estate here on Tuesday. The action caused a stir in the area. The Authority clarified that the campaign against construction carried out without approved plans or in violation of regulations would continue. Assistant Engineer Ajay Malik stated that the unauthorised construction by Virat Jaiswal was sealed in compliance with orders from the Joint Secretary and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) of Mussoorie. During the operation, the construction site was completely sealed, and further construction work was halted. For some time now, the MDDA has been taking strict action against illegal constructions in the Mussoorie area. Recently, the Authority had also sealed disputed multi-story buildings. The latest action at Jaiswal Estate signals that unauthorised construction will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Officials noted that unregulated and non-compliant construction in hilly regions not only violates building norms but also poses a serious threat regarding potential disasters; therefore, strict measures against illegal construction are essential. Executive Engineer Ajay Malik, Junior Engineer Anurag Nautiyal, Supervisors Sanjeev, Uday Negi, and Indradev Nautiyal, along with a police force, were present during the operation. The MDDA appealed to the public to obtain necessary approvals before commencing construction and warned that sealing and other legal actions would continue against any construction violating the rules.
