CM unveils projects worth Rs 17.80 crores for Mussoorie Assembly constituency

Dehradun, 4 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami today inaugurated and laid foundation stones of development projects worth Rs 17.80 crores under the Mussoorie Assembly constituency during an event held in Purkul village. The projects include the newly constructed community building dedicated to the memory of former district panchayat vice-chairman Deepak Pundir.
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Dhami expressed confidence that these projects would accelerate the pace of development in Mussoorie constituency. He emphasised that, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Uttarakhand is moving towards a golden era of progress. He noted that crores of rupees were being invested in strengthening education, health, roads, drinking water and basic infrastructure, while the state is also being developed as a hub for the sports, tourism and adventure activities.
Dhami observed that whenever wedding destinations or tourism are discussed, Mussoorie, the ‘Queen of the Hills’, is the first name that comes to mind. He said its natural beauty and serene environment attract visitors who also contribute to strengthening the local economy. The government, he claimed, is committed to the holistic development of Mussoorie. In this direction, a military memorial is being built at Purukul, while the main road up to the lower terminal of the Mussoorie ropeway is being upgraded over a stretch of about 13 km. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the Gangol-Panditwari drinking water scheme has extended clean water supply to several villages in the constituency.
The CM also stated that traffic management in Mussoorie Assembly is being improved through strengthening of the route from Maldevta Lal Pul via Silla-Moldhar to Suakholi under the CRF scheme. Electrification work has been completed in sixteen villages of Gram Panchayat Rikholi. For flood protection, safety works are being executed along 1.5 km of both banks of the Baldi River in Sahastradhara and in the New Cantt Road area.
Dhami asserted that the government is working tirelessly to fulfil every promise on the ground, while some people are spreading lies and negativity as they have no achievements to show. He reminded that government has enacted a strict anti-conversion law to safeguard cultural values and prevent demographic changes. Similarly, by implementing the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and passing a law to recover damages from rioters for destruction of public and private property, the government has reinforced the rule of law. He added that a stringent anti-cheating law has broken the nexus of exam mafias, enabling over 34,000 youths to secure government jobs transparently.
Highlighting initiatives to promote self-employment, Dhami mentioned the new start-up policy, ‘One District Two Products’, ‘House of Himalayas’, ‘Home Stay Scheme’, ‘Wed in Uttarakhand’ and ‘Solar Self-Employment Scheme’. He said these schemes are enabling thousands of youths to become employers in their own villages and towns, resulting in a record reduction of 4.4 per cent in the unemployment rate. He reminded that Uttarakhand has also secured the top position in the country in the Sustainable Development Goals Index released by NITI Aayog.
Dhami said the government envisions an Uttarakhand where no youth would have to migrate for employment and where women would be fully empowered and self-reliant.
On the occasion, Cabinet Minister Ganesh Joshi said the state is progressing steadily under Dhami’s leadership, with rapid completion of works related to roads, drinking water, community buildings and other infrastructure in Mussoorie Assembly.
Among those present were Jyoti Kotia, Shamsher Singh Bisht, MDDA vice-chairman Banshidhar Tiwari, BJP leaders Veer Singh Chauhan, Neha Joshi, Seema Pundir and Laxman Singh Rawat.
