Mussoorie, 13 Aug: The body of a 22-year-old man was found under suspicious circumstances inside his loader jeep near Maggi Point on the Mussoorie-Dehradun road this morning. The situation took a serious turn when it was discovered that a thin plastic rope was tied around the young man’s neck. Upon receiving the information, the Mussoorie police took custody of the body and sent it to Coronation Hospital in Dehradun for a post-mortem examination.

The police are examining footage from nearby CCTV cameras and investigating all aspects of the incident. The deceased has been identified as Manish (22), a resident of Takarna village in the Jaunpur area. It is reported that Manish used to travel from Mussoorie to Dehradun in his loader jeep every day around 3 a.m. to fetch goods. He had left home as usual on Thursday morning. Later, his body was found inside the loader jeep near Maggi Point. Locals informed the police after spotting the body in the vehicle. The police arrived at the scene and initiated an investigation. According to the police, the young man was found hanging towards the rear of the vehicle, supported by a rope; however, family members and locals had already taken him down before the police arrived. The presence of a thin plastic rope tied around his neck was also noted. Mussoorie Station House Officer (SHO) Devendra Chauhan stated that, prima facie, the case appears to be one of suicide, but the police are thoroughly investigating all angles before reaching a conclusion. The body has been sent to Coronation Hospital for a post-mortem, and the family has been informed of the incident. The actual cause of death will become clear only after the post-mortem report is received.

News of Manish’s death sparked grief and raised several questions in Takarna village and the surrounding areas. Local resident Raghuvir described Manish as a hardworking young man who was diligent about his daily work. According to him, Manish did not consume any intoxicants. People are shocked by this sudden death and, deeming the incident suspicious, are demanding an impartial investigation. The police are now working to determine how Manish reached ‘Maggi Point’, whether anyone was with him, and what his activities were prior to the incident. Footage from nearby CCTV cameras is also being examined. The police have clarified that further action will be taken based on the post-mortem report and the facts that emerge during the investigation.
