Dehradun, 23 Aug: The ASISC Literary Events UP & UK Regional Round 2026
brought together around 300 young minds from Uttar Pradesh & Uttarakhand on 22 August at St Joseph’s Academy, here, to celebrate literature, creativity, confidence and the joy of expression.
The inaugural ceremony was held with great enthusiasm in the school auditorium. The Chief Guest was Jim Thomas, President, ASISC -UP & UK and Principal, BPS Public School, Etah. Fr Alvin Pinto, Vice President, ASISC- UP & UK; Sudhir Joshi, Secretary and Treasurer, ASISC- UP& UK; and other dignitaries associated with ASISC- UP & UK region along with Brother Joseph M Joseph, Principal, SJA; Brother Ernest Martin, Community Leader; representatives of the participating schools and their teachers-in-charge; coordinators; teachers and most importantly the enthusiastic young literary enthusiasts were present on the occasion.
The inaugural programme commenced with a prayer, followed by an introduction of the Chief Guest, the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, and a warm welcome address by Principal Brother Joseph.
The Chief Guest then addressed the gathering with inspiring and motivating
words, encouraging the participants to embrace literature, creativity and confidence while upholding the spirit of healthy competition. He wished them all the very best as they proceeded to their respective
venues for the various competitions. The inaugural ceremony concluded with the felicitation of the Chief Guest, who was presented a memento as a token of appreciation.
The vote of thanks was proposed by the Head
Girl, SJA, Vaishnavi Gupta and Head Boy, SJA, Anubhav Sajwan. The event concluded with singing of the National Anthem.
The participants then moved to their respective venues for the seven
events; Storytelling, Poetry Writing, Creative Writing, Painting, Declamation, Quiz and Debate. The young contestants displayed
remarkable enthusiasm, imagination and skill throughout the competitions. After a gruelling and closely contested session, the
results were announced.

The winners will now participate in the AISC National Literary Events to be held at Kolkata.
