CM transfers Rs 18.49 crores to 10,709 beneficiary workers through DBT

DEHRADUN, 19 Sep: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami on Saturday transferred Rs 18.49 crore directly into the bank accounts of 10,709 eligible construction worker beneficiaries under various welfare schemes of the Uttarakhand Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board. The disbursement was made through DBT in a single click during a programme organised at the CM’s official residence here on Saturday.
Addressing the gathering, Dhami stressed that the construction workers play a vital role in the development of the State and added that the government is committed to ensuring that the workers and their families receive benefits related to education, health, nutrition and social security in a simple, transparent and time-bound manner. He directed officials to guarantee that every eligible worker family is covered under welfare schemes. He further instructed that the workers identified with illnesses during health screenings must be provided proper treatment in coordination with the Health department.
The Chief Minister also noted that the festive season is approaching and asked all the departments to ensure maximum public convenience and service through their schemes. He stressed on advancing education for workers’ children, nutrition for families, women’s health and workplace health services. He directed that transparency, eligibility verification and district-wise monitoring be maintained regularly so that the workers even in the remote areas are not deprived of benefits.
It was informed at the event that under the current DBT, 95 beneficiaries had received maternity and delivery assistance, 177 received post-death aid, 2,354 received post-marriage (daughter’s marriage) assistance and 8,083 received educational support, making a total of 10,709 beneficiaries. The Board also shared the progress of its integrated welfare model for worker families, reporting distribution of 33,429 education kits, 26,674 sanitation kits and 23,216 nutrition kits, totalling 83,319 kits. Under the Worker Health Scheme, 20,527 health screenings and 2,32,281 health tests have been conducted.
A presentation was also made on the occasion, which highlighted the progress of the Labour Cess Collection Management System (LCCMS), which was awarded the SKOCH Gold Award in the e-Governance category in 2025 and recognised in the Government of India’s Best Practices Compendium. The system has enabled online registration of 21,200 establishments and recorded a 47.21 per cent increase in cess collection. It has been showcased as a replicable digital governance model across the country.
Dhami expressed satisfaction over the progress of the Chief Minister’s Worker Health Scheme, noting that regular health check-ups have helped in early detection of serious illnesses. The presentation mentioned that the scheme was appreciated at the National Building and Other Construction Workers Conference held in Mumbai, where representatives from West Bengal, Delhi, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh showed interest in adopting Uttarakhand’s model. The initiative of providing on-site check-ups, consultations and referral services through mobile medical units was presented as an exemplary and expandable model.
Among those present on the occasion included Chairperson of the Contractual Board Advisory Kailash Pant, Chairperson of the Vigilance Committee Geeta Rawat, Vice-Chairperson of the State Vigilance Committee Mohini Pokharia, Chairperson of the Welfare Board Sridhar Babu Adanki, and Secretary of the Board Prakash Chandra Dumka, along with officials of the Labour department and the board.
