Gov briefed on measures to taken to popularise Sanskrit

Dehradun, 13 Aug: Secretary, Programme Implementation and Sanskrit Education, Deepak Kumar, paid a courtesy visit on Governor Lt General Gurmit Singh (Retd) at the Raj Bhavan, here, today.

During the meeting, Kumar informed the Governor about the efforts being made for the preservation, promotion, and dissemination of Sanskrit education. He detailed plans to organise workshops in coordination with minority institutions across the state to foster dialogue and development through the Sanskrit language. Additionally, efforts are underway to include Sanskrit on nameplates at government offices, national highways, state entry points, and public hoardings. Kumar also highlighted ongoing efforts to increase interest in Sanskrit education among girls and to operate more Sanskrit primary schools. The Sanskrit Academy aims to organise Sanskrit conversation camps across various educational, spiritual, and religious institutions, to teach Sanskrit conversation to 100,000 people.

He also briefed the Governor on the progress of the second edition of the Programme Implementation Department’s book, Meri Yojana.

The Governor praised the efforts to promote Sanskrit education and emphasised the need for increased efforts to propagate the language. He noted that Sanskrit connects us to our roots and recommended special efforts to encourage more people to engage with the language, considering Sanskrit as the second official language.
