Dehradun, 10 Dec: Savin Bansal, ever since taking over as the District Magistrate of Dehradun, has been making serious efforts to create new parking facilities in the city to alleviate the parking woes in the city. Now, under his direction, the district administration has initiated the Kabul House parking project along the EC Road here to ensure reduction in traffic jams in the city. This project, valued at Rs 99.35 lakhs, aims to accommodate approximately 285 small vehicles. New locations for parking are being identified across the city to address the increasing traffic congestion.
It may be recalled that the district administration has also initiated construction of parking facility at several places including the Doon Nagar Nigam premises.
The construction work at Kabul House has commenced and is progressing rapidly. DM Savin Bansal has instructed officials to expedite the project, ensuring timely completion. He is personally monitoring the progress, having conducted site visits to explore potential improvements and facilitate smooth execution. The nodal officer, SDM, Sadar, and officials from various departments are actively involved in overseeing the project.
These efforts are part of a broader strategy on part of the district administration to improve traffic management and provide adequate parking solutions in Dehradun. The DM claims that the administration is committed to addressing the challenges posed by traffic congestion and enhancing the overall traffic infrastructure.
The Kabul House parking project is expected to significantly ease the parking woes of residents along the EC Road and contribute towards smoother traffic flow on this major road of the city.
