Jaipur, 28 Jul: Uttarakhand Minister of Tourism, Religious Affairs, and Culture, Satpal Maharaj announced today that Uttarakhand and Rajasthan will work together on a joint plan to boost tourism activities between the two states. He made this announcement while addressing the two-day Teej Festival organised by the Rajasthan Tourism Department at Poundrik Park in Jaipur on Monday.

Maharaj highlighted the cultural and spiritual significance of Teej, stating that the festival symbolises the intense penance of Goddess Parvati over 108 births to attain Lord Shiva as her husband. He said, “Like Rajasthan, Teej holds immense importance in Uttarakhand as well. It is believed that, on this very day, the marriage of Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati took place at Triyuginarayan in Uttarakhand.”

He expressed happiness at witnessing Rajasthan’s centuries-old tradition of celebrating Teej with grandeur, noting that Jaipur has celebrated the festival for 298 years since the city’s foundation, including the iconic Teej Mata Shobha Yatra.

“The diverse traditions and cultural performances showcased here are a vital part of our shared heritage that must be preserved for future generations,” he added.

Maharaj further said that Uttarakhand and Rajasthan share a deep historical and cultural connection and emphasised the need for collaborative efforts to strengthen tourism ties.

The event was graced by Rajasthan Deputy Chief Minister and Tourism Minister Diya Kumari, former Uttarakhand Cabinet Minister Amrita Rawat, officials from Rajasthan Tourism Department, folk artists, artisans, and numerous women devotees.
