Dehradun, 26 Aug: During a review meeting of the Cooperative Department at the Secretariat here, today, Chief Secretary Anand Bardhan directed that the computerisation and data migration of Multi-Purpose Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (MPACS) must be completed by 31 December 2025. He reminded that physical data entry would be entirely discontinued from 1 January 2026. To ensure timely completion of computerisation and data update, regular monitoring should be conducted. He emphasised that District Magistrates, district-level cooperative officers and, at the state level, the Secretary would oversee the process. A timeline for data update should be established and circulated to all stakeholders.
Bardhan stressed the need to expand the reach of cooperative institutions to unserved Gram Panchayats by forming new MPACS, dairy, and fishery societies. He also called for improving milk production and quality through modern technologies. He highlighted the importance of promoting dairy as a sustainable livelihood to empower women and rural families.
He noted that transactions at Pradhan Mantri Jan Aushadhi Kendras operated through MPACS are currently very low. He directed authorities to set targets to increase these transactions, aiming to reach a monthly turnover of Rs 2 crore by December 2025.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary L Fanai, Secretary Dr BVRC Purushottam, CGM, NABARD, Pankaj Yadav, Registrar, Cooperatives, Meharban Singh Bisht, Additional Secretary Himanshu Khurana, and other senior officials. District Magistrates participated via video conferencing from their respective districts.
