Haridwar, 18 Jan: A major accident occurred today near Katarpur village on the Haridwar-Laksar road, resulting in the tragic death of three persons. The painful road mishap happened this afternoon when an out-of-control car and an e-rickshaw were involved in a high-intensity head-on collision. Two people died on the spot immediately after the crash, while a third person succumbed to injuries during treatment at the hospital. It is reported that four other individuals have been seriously injured and have been admitted to a nearby hospital for medical care.

According to the police, the collision happened slightly ahead of Katarpur village on the Haridwar-Laksar route. The impact was so severe that both vehicles were completely mangled. Upon receiving the information, the police arrived at the site and, with the assistance of locals, transported the injured to the hospital. The rickshaw driver and a passenger travelling in the vehicle died instantly at the scene. The remaining injured were rushed to the hospital, where the car driver also passed away during treatment. Four other people are said to be in a critical condition.

Pathri SHO Manoj Nautiyal stated that the police have taken custody of the bodies and sent them to the district hospital for post-mortem examination, while an investigation into the matter has been initiated.
