Inquiry ordered by Principal of Doon Medical College

Dehradun, 18 Jan: Strict action will be taken by the department in connection with the ragging incident involving an MBBS student at Government Doon Medical College. In this regard, the Principal of the college has been directed to conduct a detailed inquiry into the matter and ensure appropriate action, so that no such misconduct occurs with students in the future.
State Minister, Medical Health and Medical Education, Dr Dhan Singh Rawat, termed the recent ragging incident at Doon Medical College as entirely unacceptable. Upon receiving information about the incident, he immediately ordered an inquiry by the college administration. Dr Rawat instructed the Principal to thoroughly investigate all facts, circumstances, and allegations related to the case. He also directed that, if necessary, statements of other students and individuals be recorded to ensure that the truth comes to light and that such action is taken against the guilty which serves as a deterrent for the future.
The Minister further directed officials to debar the accused students until the inquiry report is submitted. Expressing deep concern over incidents of ragging, Dr Rawat stated that such acts raise serious questions on institutional discipline and governance. He directed the college administration to take all necessary and effective measures for the prevention of ragging in accordance with the orders of the Supreme Court.
The Doon Medical College administration revealed that, in compliance with the directions of the departmental minister, an inquiry is being conducted into the matter. The Anti-Ragging Committee constituted in the college has initiated the investigation process. Statements of the accused students have been recorded based on the complaint of the aggrieved student. The inquiry report will be submitted to the department at the earliest.
