Dehradun, 2 Jul: BJP today strongly welcomed the abolition of the Madrasa Board in Uttarakhand and the establishment of a Minority Education Authority in its place. In a statement issued today, State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt described the move as a revolutionary step aimed at securing a brighter future for children from minority communities and providing them with an open sky of opportunities for progress. He also urged all the sections of society and the political parties, particularly the Congress, to rise above partisan politics and narrow considerations and extend constructive cooperation in the larger interest of the State and society.
Reacting to what he termed as an historic initiative of the State Government, Bhatt claimed that the formation of the Minority Education Authority would bring about unprecedented improvement in the academic and administrative functioning of minority educational institutions. He stated that children belonging to all the sections of minority communities, including Muslims, Sikhs and Jains, would now receive equal opportunities in education. The BJP State President also claimed that the new system would help move children beyond the confines of traditional education and connect them with modern learning, information technology and skill development. He added that the degrees and certificates obtained under this framework would receive due recognition in both the public and private sector careers and pave the way for greater advancement and mainstream integration of the youth from the minority sections of society
Launching a sharp attack on what he described as the appeasement policy of the Congress, Bhatt said that, if the Opposition genuinely wishes to see minority children receive modern education, obtain recognised qualifications and move forward as part of the mainstream, it should welcome and support this innovative initiative undertaken in Uttarakhand. He expressed regret that such support is not forthcoming. Instead, he alleged, Congress leaders and certain vested interest groups are attempting to mislead and provoke sections of the Muslim community for political gains under the guise of appeasement.
Bhatt also asserted that any misleading campaign by the Opposition would have no impact on either the Government or the organisation. He asserted that the party remains fully committed to safeguarding the demographic balance of Uttarakhand, ensuring a bright future for children and improving the educational standards of minority institutions, and would continue to work steadfastly in this direction without interruption.
