Dehradun, 26 May: A man has been arrested after a video of him beating an elderly man and others on a public road went viral on social media. The video clearly shows the man hitting people in public, which sparked outrage among viewers. In the video, he can be seen attacking the elderly man with a belt.
After watching the video, SSP, Dehradun, ordered strict action against the person involved. Police from Nehru Colony Police Station found that the incident happened near the main road in Shastri Nagar.
The accused was identified as Sunil alias Chakkhi. The Nehru Colony police has arrested the man for disturbing the peace and beating people in public. Sunil is 24 years old and lives in Manglabasti, Rajeev Nagar, Nehru Colony.
Police said, no one has come forward to file a complaint, and the old man seen in the video has not been identified, as yet. “If anyone files a complaint, a separate case will be registered, and further legal action will be taken,” official said.
