‘Antara Memoirs’ launched by Vikas Khanna

DEHRADUN, 20 Jul: Antara Senior Living, the residential community by Max India Group meant for progressive seniors above the age of 55, today launched an exciting compilation of stories in a book called Antara Memoirs. This unique initiative aimed towards strengthening the bond between grandparents and grandchildren was inaugurated by Michelin Star Chef Vikas Khanna. The book is a compilation of 30 best stories chosen across 300 entries received from schools like Welham Girls’ School, St. George’s College, Kasiga School, Doon International School, The Asian School, Summer Valley School across Dehradun & Mussoorie. The book also has contribution from chef Khanna who narrates his stories about his ‘Biji’ being his cooking inspiration and writer and author Ruskin bond relooking at some whims and innocence of childhood. This initiative pioneered by Antara Senior Living to engage schoolkids between the age group of 8 to 12 years, aims to help residents of Antara relive their childhood memories through each story. The anecdotes and memories in the book are reminiscent of how story sessions by grandparents help kindle imagination in kids. The book was launched with the kids, grandparents, parents and teachers thereby creating an aura of childhood in Antara. Simultaneously, stitching together the elements of a perfect afternoon story session by judged a cookout where dishes were prepared by the children with the help of Antara chefs. Rejoicing about this special association, Khanna says, “As a kid I have always been attached to my grandmother and used to be amused by the way she created delicacies every day. She appeared to be a gluttony goddess and my love for food comes from those afternoon cooking sessions with her. With Antara Memoirs I have gotten this beautiful chance to spend quality time with kids and the lovely residents. This initiative has helped me go back to my childhood and induce a nice sense of nostalgia.” Commenting on this one of a kind events, Tara Singh Vachani, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Antara Senior Living says “At Antara we give utmost importance to quality of life, and we curated this initiative to make our residents relive their childhood memories. Memoirs is a compilation of childhood stories by kids and through words penned down by these young writers, our aim is to transport our residents to their childhood days and celebrate the bond of love and fondness they have for the kids.”
