New Delhi, 13 Feb: Arushi Nishank, Chairperson, International Women Empowerment Summit & Awards, hosted the India Chapter of IWES-2019 here on 12 February. The programme was organised in collaboration with Ministry of Women and Child Development, Ministry of Drinking Water & Sanitation, United Nations (UNICEF) and the “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Campaign”.
The Chief Guests at the event were Ministers Dhamendra Pradhan and Maneka Gandhi. The programme was attended by leading women in the field of cinema, literature, health, entrepreneurship, philanthropy and homemakers – Kirron Kher, Raveena Tandon, Deana Uppal, PT Usha, Deepa Malik, Mata Shri Mangla, Bachendri Pal, Sushma Seth, Ira Singhal, Laxmi Aggarwal, Prasoon Joshi, Anurag Chauhan, etc.
The prime objective of the event was to bring women on a platform to discuss the issues that are becoming an obstacle for them to realise their full potential. Women’s issues were the highlight of the India Chapter of International Women Empowerment Summit and Awards.
Arushi Nishank said at the event, “Women empowerment is very close to my heart not only because I am a woman but being a woman I carry responsibility for others and society. Women are such a strong pillar in a family, business and in any organisation, they need a wakeup call to know their capabilities, from Saraswati to Kali. At present, when the girl child ratio is increasing and women participation is more in different sectors, women’s safety and economic independence are yet to improve. Education in society, not only for woman but for men also is required.”
