DEHRADUN, 5 Dec: The 20th Junior Sports Day of The Asian School was held today with great enthusiasm. The Chief Guest was former DGP RS Meena. The highlights of the sports day were 50 mts, 80 mts, 100 mts and shuttle relay races of the Primary School. The Pre-Primary batch enthralled the audience with their fun filled races which included ‘Alphabet race’, ‘Drag and win Race’ and ‘String the bead race’. Participants of classes 4 and 5 performed a ‘Zumba Dance’ which was eye catching. The significance of games and sports was showcased through a ‘Champions Parade’ performed by classes 1 and 2 to the song, ‘I need a better tomorrow’. They depicted games like Cricket, Football, Tennis, Boxing, etc., by wearing the respective dresses along with the props. The golden era of Hindi semi-classical music was brought alive by the dances of classes 4 and 5 to songs like ‘Raat ka sama’, ‘Ude jab jab zulfein teri’, etc., which mesmerised the audience. The judges were Sudarshan Juyal, an Alumnus of the Film and TV Institute; and Shivangi Tyagi, a young Kathak Dancer. Fun filled races for the parents were also organised, which saw active participation. This involved an inter change of household tasks. Chief Guest RS Meena appreciated the efforts of all the participants. He emphasised the importance of outdoor games and less use of technology. The Head Mistress of the Junior School, Kalpana Grover proposed the vote of thanks. Other dignitaries present on the occasion were President Amarjeet Singh Juneja, Director Gaganjyot Singh Juneja, Principal AK Das, Mrs Das, Vice Principal AVD Thapliyal, Head, Middle School, Mukesh Nangia.
