DEHRADUN, 10 Jan: The Athletics Competition of the ‘Khel Mahakumbh’, held under the aegis of the Yuva Kalyan and Prantiya Rakshak Dal, in collaboration with the Panchayati Raj Department, at the Maharana Sports College, here, concluded today. It was held for Under-14, 17 and 19 boys and girls.
Raipur Ward Member Kapil Dhar and Directory, Youth Welfare, Pratap Shah distributed medals and cash awards to the winners.
In today’s competitions, Ajit Kumar, Dehradun, came first in the javelin throw, followed by Harshmohan, Uttarkashi, and Pawan Singh, Pauri, in the under-14 category. Among the girls, Sangita, Uttarkashi, was first, followed by Heena Kumai, Tehri, and Kalpana, Udham Singh Nagar. In the 1500 metres, girls, Monika Kumar, US Nagar was first, followed by Nisha Joshi, Pithoragarh, and Isha, Haridwar. In the girls’ 400 metres, Kavita Rawat, Pithoragarh, was first, followed by Jaskiran Kaur, US Nagar, and Khushi Bisht, Nainital.
In U-17 girls’ category javelin throw, Renu of Chamoli was first, followed by Jagriti, Uttarkashi, and Deepa Mahra, Bageshwar. In the 1500 metres race, Maya Kumari, Pithoragarh, was first, followed by Deeksha Mahra, Almora, and Gargi, Chamoli.
In U-19 boys’ category 1500 metres race, Sunil Kumar, Dehradun, was first, followed by Shubham Rana, US Nagar, and Rohit, Champawat. In the javelin throw, Amit Koranga, Uttarkashi, was first, followed by Pravin Rawat, Pauri, and Aman Gopal, Dehradun.
At the conclusion of the championship, the team standings were: in U-14 boys’, Haridwar was first, followed by Dehradun. In the girls’ category, Udham Singh Nagar was first, followed by Pithoragarh.
In U-17 boys’, US Nagar was first and Dehradun, second. In girls’ category, Pauri Garhwal was first, followed by Chamoli. In the U-19 boys’ category, Haridwar was first, followed by Dehradun. Among girls’, Rudraprayag was first, followed by Pauri Garhwal. They were awarded championship shields.
