Dehradun, 4 Nov: Welcoming the Supreme Court’s decision on women’s horizontal reservation, BJP State President Mahendra Bhatt said that the decision had put a stamp of approval on BJP’s commitment to the welfare of the women of Uttarakhand.
In a statement issued, today, Bhatt said that Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had already made it clear that the government would not let the interests of women, the axis of state construction, come under fire. However, the opposition kept trying to magnify the issue by turning it into a political controversy.
Bhatt said that many schemes of the state government are being run in the interest of women and the government is making serious efforts to take them forward in the direction of respect and employment. Under the able leadership of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami and the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, this decade would truly belong to Uttarakhand. In this, women power would play a crucial role in turning Uttarakhand into a leading state of the country.
Chief Minister Dhami also welcomed the decision of the Supreme Court and claimed that it was in the interest of the women of the state. He added that his government is committed to protecting the interests of the women of the state. He further added that the government is preparing to bring an ordinance to keep women’s reservation intact. He credited the effective arguments put before the Court for the positive decision. He said that the government ensured effective action by appealing to the Supreme Court in time.
Meanwhile, sources claimed that the government would bring a Government order reserving 30
percent of government jobs for women. Sources claimed that a draft had already been prepared in
this regard and this would be placed before the Cabinet at the next meeting.
