Dehradun 4 May: The BJP today asserted that it strongly supports any law which may be enacted to control the sale and purchase of land by people with criminal tendencies and suspicious activities. Party’s state media in-charge Manveer Singh Chauhan, while answering the questions of journalists regarding the possible ordinance being brought by the Dhami government regarding regulating land purchase and sale, asserted that the party strongly supports and welcomes any such effort. He stressed that since the formation of the state, people from other states with criminal tendencies and dubious activities have invested in land on a large scale in Uttarakhand. It is a matter of grave concern that a large number of people who are settling legally and illegally in the state with a conspiracy agenda to change the demography of the state. Some organisations and people are aiding people of a particular religion to illegally settle on encroached land in Uttarakhand.
Chauhan claimed that this serious issue has been continuously discussed in various public forums and at the level of party organisation and the government. The effort launched by Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to save Devbhoomi from land jihad is commendable. It is very important to know the background and motives of those who buy land in the border state of Uttarakhand, which has a special religious, spiritual and cultural identity. He apprehended that if such illegal buying and selling is not stopped in time, it can become a serious threat to the identity of the state and the security of the country.
Chauhan said that the Opposition leaders are making many unwarranted allegations, but the BJP will not allow even an inch of Devbhoomi land to go into wrong hands at any cost. Vote bank politics is of no importance to the party and national security and religious cultural identity of the state is paramount for the party.
