DEHRADUN, 4 May: The two-day day ‘G-20 University Connects’ lecture series concluded today at the Nityanand Auditorium in the Doon University. The theme of second day was Engaging Young Minds, and eminent personalities including Ambassador Preeti Sharan, Former Secretary (East) in the Ministry of External Affairs & Former Ambassador, India; Dr Alka Mittal, former Chairperson & Managing Director, Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Ltd. (ONGC); Dr Mohit D Gupta, Professor of Cardiology, GB Pant Institute of Post Graduate Medical Education and Research, New Delhi; Dr. Anshuman Gupta, RIS, New Delhi and Niyathi Singh, Consultant RIS, New Delhi graced the occasion with their presence. The convenor of the event was Prof RP Mamgain, Dean and Head, School of Social Sciences.
Vice Chancellor Prof Surekha Dangwal opened the session by welcoming the guests and congratulated the faculty and students of the University for hosting the event.
Preeti Saran shared her views on women empowerment, different government schemes related to women, the importance of G20 for india, India’s stand on Climate change and the theme of the G-20 i.e. Vasudev Kutambukam. Dr Anshuman Gupta’s insights on India’s presidency in the ongoing G-20 summit and the participation of the universities across India in G-20 were also informative. Dr Alka Mittal expressed her views on India’s improving infrastructure, development, and growth and how organisations like ONGC are aiding India’s growth through offshore windfarms.
Lastly, the attraction of the event Prof Mohit Gupta concluded the session with an engaging talk on self-empowerment and mental health by sharing seven rules of success. Besides, elaborating the theme of G-20, Prof Gupta shared several inspiring anecdotes of his life. Faculty members and students of various schools and departments were present throughout the event.
Prizes for essay and quiz competitions were distributed too and winners were awarded by the guests of the day. Essay competition (Hindi) was won by DBS college followed by MKP PG College whereas in
English essay competition, UPES secured the first position followed by MKP PG College. In the Quiz competition Doon University won the first prize and MKP bagged the Second position.
