Mussoorie, 18 Jan: A young man died in a tragic road accident early Sunday morning in the Kandikhal area near the famous tourist spot, Kempty Falls, here.

A car with registration number UK07-FP-0359 went out of control and fell into a deep gorge. The young man driving the car died on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Vijay Kumar, son of Pradeep Kumar. He was a resident of Kandala village, Kairana, Shamli district (Uttar Pradesh). It is being said that Vijay had come to Kempty Falls with some friends for sightseeing. According to the information, Vijay’s friends stayed at a hotel late at night, while Vijay was in his car. In the morning, when his friends did not see the car outside the hotel, they called Vijay, but there was no response. Following this, the friends informed the Kempty police about the missing driver and vehicle.

Meanwhile, a local person from the Kandikhal area informed the police that a car had fallen into a gorge below the road, and a person was lying dead inside. Upon receiving the information, the Kempty police reached the spot and, with the help of local people, retrieved the body from the gorge and brought it to the main road. The body was identified as that of the friend who had gone missing the previous night. The body was then sent to the Mussoorie Sub-District Hospital via a 108 ambulance, where doctors declared the young man dead. The police have completed the necessary formalities and sent the body for post-mortem examination, and the deceased’s family has been informed of the accident. Local people say that there are no parapets or crash barriers at several places on the road leading from Kempty Falls to Kandikhal, due to which accidents have occurred here before. The villagers have demanded that the administration install safety walls or crash barriers along the roadside as soon as possible to prevent such accidents in the future. Kempty Police In-charge Yogendra Gusain said that the entire matter is being investigated. After the post-mortem examination, the body has been handed over to the family. The friends who were with the deceased are also being questioned to determine the exact cause of the accident.
