Cheating racket caught in exam, 2 main accused arrested

Dehradun, 19 May: Police has arrested two main accused who were running a cheating gang in the exam for Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti/Lab Attendant on Monday. The duo had promised the candidates
to help them pass the exam in exchange for Rs 7 lakh each. The candidates had given Rs 1 lakh in advance and the accused had given them the devices.
The two accused were identified as Vivek Singh (27) and Shrikant (32), both are residents of Haryana. The police have recovered 5 mobile phones and a white Swift car from their possession. In total, 20 people have been arrested in this cheating case. All of them were presented before the court and sent to judicial custody at Suddhowala jail.
On 18 May, during the exam, exam administrator were found some candidates behaving suspiciously. The exam center administrator informed the police. A police team from Dalanwala police station quickly reached the spot and caught 9 candidates cheating using Bluetooth hearing buds and electronic devices.
During questioning, the candidates told the police that two men named Vivek Singh and Shrikant had promised to help them pass the exam in exchange for Rs. 7 lakh each. They had taken Rs. 1 lakh in advance from each candidate and had given them the devices.
“Using electronic surveillance, our team found and arrested Vivek Singh and Shrikant from the Dalanwala area on Monday. Mobile phones used in the cheating were also recovered from them,” SSP said.
