DEHRADUN, 14 Jul: Student activist group ‘Making A Difference By Being the Difference’ (MAD) participated in a citizens’ walk organised to save the forests of Tarla Nagal, here, today. Tarla Nagal Forest has been slated by MDDA to develop a city park. Citizens raised their voice against the unsustainable plans of MDDA to develop this area, which is also a natural habitat to many bird species and animals. “MDDA should be renamed as Mussoorie Dehradun Destruction Agency as all they do is destroy everything they see. Tarla Nagal is a beautiful forest area and we will not allow MDDA to destroy it,” remarked Karan Kapoor, a senior member of MAD. Citizens from all age groups participated in this walk. A lot of photographers and morning walkers who have been visiting this area for many years shared their experiences about their encounters with wildlife in the area. This walk was initiated by Ashish Garg and was supported by Reenu Paul of the Rajpur Community Initiative, Paramjit Kakkar of Pramukh, Bharat Sharma from Friends of Doon Society, Himanshu Sharma from Citizens of Green Doon, among others. Karan Kapoor, Shreya Rohilla, Rahul Guru, Karanbir, Kanika, Khushali, Darish and others represented MAD in this walk.
