CM approves projects worth more than Rs 1096 crores

Dehradun, 8 May: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has granted financial approval for a series of important development projects and works related to education, tourism, urban and rural local bodies as well as for preparations for Kumbh Mela-2027. According to the government, the approvals, amounting to around Rs 1096 crores, are aimed at accelerating infrastructure development and strengthening civic amenities across the state.

Under the State Plan, the CM has approved an amount of Rs 9.43 crores for the construction of a bridge over the Guruni drain at Pataliya in Kotabagh area of Kaladhungi Assembly constituency in Nainital district. Financial approval has also been granted by him for the construction of a car parking facility at Mohan Bazaar in Mukteshwar under Ramgarh development block at a cost of Rs 9.89 crores. Out of this amount, approval has already been accorded for the release of the first instalment of Rs 3.95 crores.

Under the Sixth State Finance Commission, Dhami approved the release of an amount of Rs 331.27 crores for urban local bodies. This includes an amount of Rs 328.27 crores towards the first quarterly instalment for the Financial Year 2026-27, covering the period from April to June, for all the urban local bodies, along with Rs 3 crores for the first half-yearly instalment from April to September for three non-elected urban bodies.

The CM further granted financial approval for three-tier Panchayati Raj institutions for the FY 2026-27. Under this, district panchayats will receive a total amount of Rs 82.20 crores as the first quarterly instalment from April to June, while block panchayats and gram panchayats will receive amounts of Rs 75.46 crore and Rs 194.61 crores respectively as the first half-yearly instalment from April to September. In total, Rs 352.27 crores has been approved for Panchayati Raj institutions.

In the education sector, the CM has approved the release of Rs 80 crores as the first instalment against the provision of Rs 160 crores earmarked in the financial year 2026-27 for salary payments of employees working in aided non-government primary schools. Similarly, under secondary education, approval has been granted for the release of Rs 300 crores, which constitutes the first 50 per cent instalment for the first six months from April to September 2026 against the budgetary provision for the financial year 2026-27.

The CM has also approved the release of funds for three permanent infrastructure works linked to preparations for Kumbh Mela-2027 under the Urban Development Department in Haridwar. He accorded sanction to an amount of Rs 6.44 crores for renovation work through bituminous concrete on internal roads around Shankaracharya Chowk, Devpura Chowk, Chandracharya Chowk and Aryanagar Chowk, along with the road leading from the barrier towards Gugal Mandir.

In addition, an amount of Rs 6.83 crores was also sanctioned for junction improvement and beautification works at Ranipur Mod, Shankar Ashram, Shiv Murti Chowk and Jhanda Chowk in Haridwar. The CM has also approved an amount of Rs 5.95 crores for the supply and commissioning of diesel-operated self-propelled vacuum-based EV road sweeping machines along with comprehensive maintenance arrangements under preparations for Kumbh Mela-2027.
