CM condoles death of pilgrims in Tanakpur road accident

Dehradun, 23 Mar: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami has expressed deep sorrow over the death of pilgrims in a bus accident at Thuligad, Tanakpur in Champawat district this morning. Expressing condolences for this tragic incident, the Chief Minister wished peace to the departed souls and strength to the bereaved family members to bear this sorrow. Along with this, he also wished for the speedy recovery of the injured. Dhami also assured all possible help by the government to the families of the deceased and the injured in the accident.

As soon as the information about the accident was received, on the instructions of the Chief Minister, cabinet minister and district in-charge minister Rekha Arya immediately reached Tanakpur sub-district hospital to inquire about the well-being of the devotees injured in the ThuligadRoad accident in Tanakpur and expressed condolences to the families of those killed in the accident. At the same time, she assured all possible help from the government.

Five devotees were killed and eight others injured when a bus ploughed into a crowd in Thuligad parking area of Champawat district on Thursday.
According to sources, the people — all residents of Uttar Pradesh’s Bahraich district — had visited the annual Maa Purnagiri fair held at Thuligad, and were waiting for a bus to return.
Soon after the accident, the injured were rushed to Tanakpur sub-district Hospital, where five of them succumbed to their injuries.
Police are investigating the matter.
