DEHRADUN, 1 May: Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has requested Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to run 12 special trains on various routes to bring back the people of the state stranded outside Uttarakhand. He urged the Railway Minister to run special trains from Delhi to Dehradun, Delhi to Haldwani, Chandigarh to Dehradun, Lucknow to Dehradun, Lucknow to Haldwani, Jaipur to Dehradun, Jaipur to Haldwani, Mumbai to Dehradun, Mumbai to Haldwani, Bhopal to Dehradun, Bangalore to Dehradun and Ahmedabad to Dehradun. He called up the Union Railway Minister after chairing a meeting in respect of modalities on bringing back the Uttarakhand residents stranded in other states and urged him to arrange for special trains.
Meanwhile, Rajya Sabha MP Anil Baluni has also requested Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to run special trains for the safe return of stranded Uttarakhand natives in various cities like Mumbai, Pune, Indore, Bengaluru, Jaipur and Gujarat. According to Baluni, the Railway Minister had assured him that he would take up the request in respect of Uttarakhand on a priority basis.
