Gopeshwar, 14 Aug: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami visited the district hospital in Gopeshwar following his review of the rescue operation after the accident inside the under‑construction THDC tunnel at Pipalkoti in Chamoli district.
The CM met the rescued injured workers at the district hospital and enquired about their health and treatment, and interacted with them directly. He also sought details from doctors regarding the medical arrangements and instructed them to provide the best possible facilities without any shortcomings. He directed that the health of the injured workers be continuously monitored and that all essential medical support be extended as required. Stressing that every life is precious, he said the state government is committed to using all available means to ensure safety and care.

The CM on this occasion shared with the media that he has personally spoken to the Chief Ministers of the affected workers’ home states to ensure timely communication with their families. He also ordered a magisterial inquiry into the causes of the tunnel accident. Dhami assured that affected people and their families will be provided all possible assistance and prayed for the well‑being of those still inside. He reiterated that the government is keeping close watch on the situation with full sensitivity and promptness.

On this occasion, Badrinath MLA Lakhpat Singh Butola, District Panchayat Chairman Daulat Singh Bisht, Additional District Magistrate Vivek Prakash, Chief Medical Superintendent Dr Rajiv Pal along with other officials and public representatives were present.
In addition, the CM also held a meeting with the officials and the cabinet minister in charge of the district, Bharat Singh Chaudhary, and directed the officials to ensure timely payment of the compensation to the bereaved families and to the injured workers.
