Construction company duped of Rs 16 lakh by fake Jindal Manager

Dehradun, 21 May: A construction company from Dehradun has lost more than Rs 16 lakh in an online fraud. The company manager was tricked by a man who impersonating a sales manager of the well-known company Jindal Steel and Power Ltd.
Rajeev Jain, manager of Bharat Construction India Pvt. Ltd., filed a complaint at the Cyber Crime Police Station, Dehradun. He said that his company needed building materials for a project in Kohima, Nagaland. During this time, he came in contact with a man named Amit Kumar Singh, who introduced himself as the Area Sales Manager of Jindal Panther TMT rebars. He even sent a visiting card and a tax invoice to make his claim look real.
Believing him, the company transferred Rs 16,11,800 to a Bank of India account named “Jindal Panther Steel Limited” on April 15, 2025. However, after the payment, the fraudster did not deliver the material. When the manager called him, he demanded another Rs 5 lakh to send the goods. When the manager refused, the fraudster stopped responding.
Later, the company contacted the real Jindal Steel and Power Ltd. and found out that Amit Kumar Singh was not an employee and the bank account was also fake. The police have registered a case and started their investigation.
