DEHRADUN, 10 Oct: This year, Dehra Dun Club celebrated Dussehra on Wednesday with great pomp and show and an unprecedented number of members and their families gathered to be a part of the celebrations. Everyone present appreciated the Club Management’s decision to change the date of Dussehra for the first time in the history of the Club, as Members did not face any hindrance in coming. This year, as part of the celebrations, “Triumph over Evil”, an open air multi-stage, multi-media Light and Sound show was organised in the Club, which was conceptualised by Avi Nanda, the well known theatre personality of Doon for the past 5 decades, and directed by Jagmohan Sehgal. Around 40 artists, including many Club Members, performed live at the show. The light and sound show depicted glimpses from the Great Indian Epic Ramayana. DG Ashok Kumar was the Chief Guest for the evening and he lauded the efforts put in for the flawless presentation and immaculate arrangements made by the Club. Club President DS Mann proposed a vote of thanks to the performers and the audience. Apart from the Light and Sound Show, arrangements for entertainment for the entire family of Club Members and their guests were made. Stalls for games like hoopla, skill ball, cork shooting, balloon shooting and toys were put up for the children. Stalls serving a variety of mouth watering snacks and dinner were also setup. For the convenience of Members, arrangement for Valet Parking was made. AT the request of Members, the Dress Code for the evening was also relaxed.
