Dehradun, 23 Dec: Deliberations were held at Graphic Era Deemed University today to promote collaboration between schools and higher education Institutions. Principals from Delhi, Pune, Gurugram, Lucknow, Aligarh, Ambala, Meerut, Haridwar, Kanpur, Punjab, Dehradun along with various places in Nepal shared their views on this.
The topic was ‘Empowering Future: A Collaborative Vision of School Principals and Higher Education Institutions’. Principals of more than 50 schools participated to deliberate on various topics related to education. The Principals gave many suggestions on improving the Indian Education System, such as introducing artificial intelligence administered tools in schools, research and projects based exposure, adopting technological advancements, to bridge the practical gap by teaching industry related skills, right assessment of students, connecting with international institutions and organising regular workshops.
Today, the Pro-Chancellor of Graphic Era Deemed University Prof Rakesh Kumar Sharma addressed the gathering. He said that teachers play a crucial role in the education system. To improve the level of education in India, teachers must adapt to the technological changes in today’s competitive world. This would be beneficial in nurturing an academic environment in schools by learning new technologies and doing research work.
He said that the collaboration between higher education institutions and schools is not an option but a necessity. Most of the students are not ready with required skills when they transition from school to university. These changes can be challenging for them. It is the moral duty of teachers to help them mentally so that they are ready to face these challenges. He said that the Chairman of Graphic Era Group of Institutions, Dr Kamal Ghanshala, still takes classes and is working towards shaping the future of more than 40,000 students which is an inspiration for teachers.
Vice Chancellor Dr Narpinder Singh said that the global challenges in the field of education can be overcome by the collaborative efforts of schools and universities. This would smoothen the process of transitioning from schools to higher education for the students. He said that it is the duty of teachers to prepare the students for challenges such as the rapid changes in technologies, academic infrastructure, digital transformation, healthcare and climate change. For better results, strong relationship between schools and universities should be formed to organise workshops, career counselling, and sharing resources and expertise among students and teachers.
Founding President of iEducationalise, Shikha Gupta said that teachers usually remember the brilliant students. Mostly average students of the class require more guidance and support from them. These students unexpectedly have the potential to perform better in life. She said that the collaboration between renowned institutions like Graphic Era is an excellent opportunity for not only students and teachers but parents as well.
Brainstorming sessions were also organised on topics like ‘From Classroom to Careers: Enhancing Employability Through Integrated Learning Pathways and Bridging Aspirations’; ‘Collaborative Pathways for Seamless Educational Transitions’. Academic Director of Takshashila Progressive English School, Jhapa, Nepal, Dr Victor Ignatius Joseph, Academic Director of Rishikul World School, Delhi, Jyoti Luthra, Amrish Sharma from Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun, Cluster Principal of Angel Group of School, Khushboo Singh, Principal of Laboratory Secondary School Dr Lakpa Sherpa, Principal of Graphic Era Global School, Dehradun, Raj Kumar Trehan, Principal of The Chandbagh School, Kathmandu, Chandrayan Pradhan Shreshta and Principal of Delhi Public School, Dharan, Nepal, PK Sankaralingam shared their views on these topics.
On this occasion, an MoU was signed between Graphic Era Deemed University and various schools. Under the MoU, Graphic Era will organise teacher-training programmes and various activities for students in schools. The event was organised by Graphic Era Deemed University with the support of iEducationalize. Director, IQAC, Dr Santosh S Saraf, Dean, International Affairs, Dr DR Gangodkar, Dean, Research, Prof Bhasker Pant, Convener Dr Deepak Kaushal, HoDs and Principals were present on the occasion.
